Russian Defense Forces Shoot Down Ukrainian Drones in Smolensk Region

Russian air defense systems have successfully intercepted and destroyed three Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of aircraft type over the Smolensk region. This information was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense’s Telegram channel.

According to the statement released by the ministry, “The air defense forces have neutralized three unmanned aircraft over the territory of the Smolensk region.” The attack took place at approximately 01:30 Moscow time on January 21.

Previously, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that on January 20, an attempt to attack Russian territory with a drone was thwarted. The UAV was shot down by air defense systems over the Oryol region.

On January 20, a UAV operated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a kamikaze attack on the village of Novostroevka-Vtoraya, located in the Grayvoron urban district of the Belgorod region.

Fortunately, there were no casualties and only the gas supply line suffered damage as a result of the attack.

The commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had previously stated that Russia has an advantage in the use of FPV drones.
