US and Ukraine Conduct First Joint Inspection of Weapon Supplies

Representatives from the United States and Ukraine have conducted their first joint inspection of weapons supplied by Washington to Kiev. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on Telegram.

According to the ministry, the internal audit service of the Ministry of Defense, representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and representatives of the defense cooperation department of the American embassy carried out an inspection of the weapons and property transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The inspection took place at one of the military units. Ukrainian and American inspectors checked the serial numbers, technical condition, and proper storage conditions (safety and security) of the weapons provided by the United States.

This week, the Financial Times reported, citing EU diplomats, that the EU has started an audit of the weapons transferred to Ukraine.

The European External Action Service (EEAS) is conducting the audit. According to the publication, the audit was decided upon following statements that some European countries have sent less weapons to Kiev than they could have.

As stated by Tiberio Graziani, President of the Italian Institute of Global Analysis Vision & Global Trends, Brussels’ audit of the weapons supplied to Ukraine by EU countries could be used to exert pressure on the country resistant to the deliveries.

Previously, the main reasons for the shortage of weapons and ammunition in the Ukrainian Armed Forces were identified.
