Trump Leads New Hampshire Primary Polls, Haley and DeSantis Trail Behind

In the countdown to the New Hampshire Republican presidential primary, former President Donald Trump maintains a significant lead, with former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis trailing behind, according to a recent poll. The daily tracking poll conducted by Suffolk University, the Boston Globe, and NBC10 in Boston reveals that Trump captures 53% support among likely voters in Tuesday’s primary.

Haley, who served as ambassador to the United Nations during the Trump administration, secured 36% support, while DeSantis garnered 7% support. Although DeSantis was previously the clear runner-up to Trump in most polls, his numbers have slightly diminished over the past 24 hours. The poll, conducted after Trump’s victory in the Iowa caucuses, indicates a strong position for the former president as the primary season progresses.

Another poll from Saint Anselm College, also conducted after the Iowa caucuses, reinforces Trump’s lead in New Hampshire. The survey shows Trump leading by a significant margin, with Haley and DeSantis trailing far behind. This indicates that Trump continues to have a strong base of support within the Republican Party.

Surprisingly, a recent survey from Marist College suggests that Haley may fare better against President Joe Biden in a hypothetical general election matchup compared to both Trump and DeSantis. In New Hampshire, a key battleground state, the survey reveals that Haley edges Biden by three points, while Biden leads Trump by seven points and DeSantis by nine points. This finding highlights Haley’s potential appeal to voters as a candidate who could perform well against the incumbent president.

Throughout her campaign, Haley has emphasized her ability to challenge Biden effectively in the general election. This survey provides some validation to her claim, as she demonstrates a competitive edge against the president in a crucial swing state.

As the primary race intensifies, these poll results shed light on the current state of the Republican field in New Hampshire. Trump’s commanding lead suggests that his influence within the party remains strong, while Haley’s and DeSantis’ performances indicate a challenging road ahead for them. With the primary just days away, all eyes will be on New Hampshire to see if Trump can maintain his lead or if Haley and DeSantis can gain ground.
