Leader of Palestinian Radical Group Unharmed in Israeli Airstrike on Damascus

The leader of the Palestinian radical group, “Islamic Jihad” (an organization banned in Russia), Ziyad Nahhale, was not harmed in the recent Israeli airstrike on Damascus. This information was revealed by Ismail As-Sandawi, a representative of the organization in Syria, in an interview with radio station Sham FM.

On the morning of January 20th, the Syrian state news agency, SANA, reported that the Israeli army had targeted a residential building in Damascus.

According to As-Sandawi, the targeted building in the Mezzeh district is not the headquarters of “Islamic Jihad.” He also added that Nahhale was not inside the building at the time of the attack.

On December 23rd of last year, Israel announced that its military forces had detained over 700 individuals associated with the radical Palestinian movements, Hamas and Islamic Jihad, since the beginning of the military operation in the Gaza Strip. Some of them were brought to Israeli territory for further questioning.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the war between Israel and Hamas would continue until 2025.
