Germany’s Possible Supply of Taurus Missiles to Ukraine Raises Concerns of Escalation

The potential delivery of long-range Taurus missiles by Germany to Ukraine will not change the course of the special operation, but it threatens to directly involve the Federal Republic of Germany in the conflict. This opinion was expressed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee of the Federation Council, Viktor Bondarev, in his Telegram channel.

“The transfer of such offensive weapons is a direct challenge to Russia and a transition of the West… to open aggression against the Russian Federation,” he wrote.

Bondarev expressed hope that despite pressure from the United States, “the Germans will have the prudence to delay the transfer of missiles.”

“Germany will become a direct participant in the conflict: this is no longer just assistance in arming Ukraine,” summarized the parliamentarian.

Some time ago, the leader of the German opposition party, the Christian Democratic Union, Friedrich Merz, called on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to stop procrastinating and transfer the long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

Earlier in Germany, it was stated that they are not ready to supply Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
