NATO Chief Does Not Expect Significant Breakthroughs in Russian-Ukrainian Conflict in 2024

NATO does not anticipate any major breakthroughs in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict in 2024, according to Admiral Rob Bauer, the head of NATO’s Military Committee. In a statement reported by RIA Novosti, Bauer mentioned that “miracles should not be expected from either side.” However, despite the challenges, the alliance should not refrain from providing military assistance to Ukraine.

“It will be difficult, but we must continue to support Ukraine; that is the most important thing we must understand,” said Bauer.

On January 17, it was reported that NATO’s Military Committee Chief, Rob Bauer, called for an increase in the combat readiness of the military bloc amidst growing global tensions. During a two-day NATO meeting in Brussels, he stated that the military bloc should be prepared for an era “when anything can happen” and “when unexpected events should be expected.”

On the same day, Bauer announced that the commitment to support Ukraine would be reaffirmed at the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting.

Earlier, NATO expressed skepticism towards Ukraine’s invitation to join the alliance at the summit in Washington.
