Drone Attack Targets US Base in Iraqi Kurdistan

A drone attack has targeted a US base in Iraqi Kurdistan, according to Al Arabiya television channel. The US consulate in the region sounded the alarm after the incident.

The strike took place near the airport in the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, Erbil.

CNN-Arabic reported that Shiite militants have carried out six attacks on American military facilities in Syria and Iraq since December 20. Over 90 attacks on US bases have been recorded since October.

On January 16, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the launch of 24 rockets targeting objects in Iraqi Kurdistan and Syria. The IRGC added that four Kheibar Shekan rockets were fired at ISIS positions in the Idlib area, nine projectiles were launched at positions of “terrorist groups” in other areas of Syria, and 11 rockets were fired from various parts of Iran at Mossad intelligence positions in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Earlier, Shiite groups declared attacks on three US military bases in Iraq and Syria.
