The growing number of Ukrainian soldiers surrendering to the Russian armed forces indicates the successes of the Russian Army, according to retired military expert Colonel Andrey Koshkin. Koshkin’s statement was reported by “Lenta.ru”.
Koshkin emphasized that the Russian army has achieved progress on all fronts, including the strategically important town of Krasnolimansk. He pointed out that the reaction to this progress has been the active surrender of Ukrainian soldiers to Russian forces.
On January 16, it was reported that soldiers from the Russian task force “Zapad” captured enemy positions and took Ukrainian soldiers captive in the Kupyansk direction.
On the same day, the Ministry of Defense announced that Ukrainian soldiers surrendered on the Zaporizhia front. The released footage shows Ukrainian soldiers leaving their trenches under the control of Russian military personnel.
Ukrainian serviceman Alexander Yakovlev revealed that he hid in a pit for about 20 minutes during the shelling and then decided to surrender. He explained that the surrounding fields are mined, making escape impossible.
A former captive of the Ukrainian armed forces had previously stated that trust in President Zelensky had been lost.
