US Pentagon Claims Yemen’s Houthi Movement Retains Military Capabilities Despite Airstrikes

The spokesperson for the US Department of Defense, Patrick Ryder, has stated that the Yemeni Houthi movement, known as “Ansar Allah,” continues to possess some capabilities to carry out attacks following American and British strikes on their targets in Yemen. According to TASS, Ryder made these remarks during a press briefing.

Ryder emphasized that it is evident that the Houthis have retained some of their military capabilities. He further highlighted that the US conducted strikes on 16 Ansar Allah targets in Yemen, using more than 150 projectiles.

The Pentagon spokesperson also noted that Washington and its allies will continue to work towards containing the Houthis.

Earlier, Yahya Saria, a representative of the military wing of the Houthi rebel movement, claimed that a rocket strike had targeted the American vessel Genco Picardy in the Gulf of Aden.

Prior to this incident, the US had designated the Houthi rebels from Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement as a terrorist organization.

Previously, the Houthis had announced their intention to target commercial ships in the Red Sea every 12 hours.
