French President Emmanuel Macron has declared that his country will not carry out preemptive strikes on Houthi positions in order to prevent an escalation of the conflict in the region. During a press conference broadcasted on the official account of the Elysee Palace on the social network X, Macron emphasized that France will not join the coalition that is already conducting similar strikes.
However, the French leader highlighted that the French Navy ships will continue to ensure security in the Red Sea.
“Our task is to protect freedom of navigation. This is a diplomatic issue, not a military one,” emphasized Macron.
Three years ago, Washington officially removed the Houthi movement “Ansar Allah” from the list of terrorist organizations.
Earlier, the Pentagon announced that the United States destroyed four anti-ship ballistic missiles belonging to the “Ansar Allah” movement (Houthis), which were being prepared for launch to attack US commercial and military ships in the Red Sea.
Previously, the Houthis declared their intention to attack commercial vessels in the Red Sea every 12 hours.
