North Korea Conducts Missile Test Capable of Hitting US Base in Guam

North Korea recently conducted a missile test that has the capability to strike the largest US base in the Pacific Ocean, located on the island of Guam, where strategic bombers and nuclear submarines are stationed. This information was reported by the Japanese publication Sankei, citing its sources in Seoul.

According to journalists, the missile’s warhead, which is capable of reaching Guam, was able to reach a speed of over ten times the speed of sound after detaching from its carrier during the test.

On January 14th, North Korea conducted a test of a medium-range solid-fuel ballistic missile with a hypersonic guided warhead. According to some reports, the projectile traveled over 500 km and reached a maximum altitude of 50 km.

The European Union has condemned the missile tests and called on the North Korean authorities to cease their “illegal actions” which, according to the union, undermine international peace and security in the region and beyond.

Earlier, a Russian general explained why North Korea is conducting these new missile tests.
