The United States and the United Kingdom have launched fresh strikes in Yemen, according to local authorities as reported by RIA Novosti.
The strikes targeted locations in the province of Al-Bayda, a source clarified.
Yesterday, Yahya Sari, a representative of the Houthi forces in Yemen, stated in an interview with the Al-Masirah channel, which is under the control of the Ansar Allah movement, that their group is responsible for the missile attack on a US destroyer that occurred on January 15th.
Previously, it was reported that the Gibraltar Eagle was sailing in the Gulf of Aden (where Yemen is located) when it was attacked by the Houthis from the shore. At the time, the container ship was approximately 95 nautical miles (about 361 km) southeast of the Yemeni port of Aden, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that the Houthis targeted the American container ship Gibraltar Eagle, but the vessel remained undamaged and continued its journey.
Earlier, the US deployed an aircraft carrier strike group to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait in response to Houthi attacks.
