Ukrainian Foreign Minister Warns of Using Shovels in War if Western Countries Stop Supplying Weapons

In a recent interview with American television network ABC, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba stated that Ukrainian military forces would resort to using shovels to fight if Western countries cease supplying weapons to Kiev.

“Time is passing, but our commitment and determination to defend our country are unwavering. I am damn serious when I say that even if we run out of weapons [from Western countries], we will fight with shovels,” the diplomat said in response to a question about how disagreements in the US regarding aid to Kiev are affecting the state of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Earlier, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksiy Danilov, stated that the European Union had only provided one-third of the previously promised ammunition to Kiev.

Reporters from The New York Times have highlighted that the military prospects of the Ukrainian army do not inspire optimism due to significant losses on the battlefield and a substantial reduction in the supply of Western weapons.

On January 13th, a former CIA employee claimed that crucial military facilities in Ukraine had been destroyed.

On the same day, the former Deputy Minister of Ukraine for temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons, Georgiy Tuka, stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were facing a dire situation due to Russian drones.

Previously, The New York Times had pointed out a decrease in the effectiveness of cluster munitions for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
