Shiite Armed Groups Attack US Military Bases in Iraq and Syria in Response to Gaza Conflict

In a recent statement, Shiite armed groups belonging to the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” have announced a massive rocket and drone attack on three American military bases in Iraq and Syria. The groups claim that these strikes are in retaliation for the “Zionist genocide” occurring in Gaza. The information was reported by RIA Novosti, citing a Telegram channel owned by the armed groups.

According to the statement, the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” fighters used rockets and drones to target the military bases in response to the alleged genocide. The attacked bases include the one at Erbil International Airport, the “Harab al-Jeir” base in northeastern Syria, and the base at the “Koniko” oil field in the Syrian province of Deir ez-Zor.

The Shiite groups emphasized their intention to continue attacking US military facilities in the region.

Earlier, Michael Mulroy, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East under the Trump administration, called on the Pentagon to prepare for an escalation of military operations in the Middle East amid the ongoing conflict with the Houthis.

Hamas, on the other hand, has accused the West of creating an “impenetrable wall” between themselves and the Arab world.
