High School Principal Dies After Tragic Shooting Incident in Iowa

Perry High School in Iowa experienced a devastating school shooting incident earlier this month, resulting in the death of the school’s principal, Dan Marburger. Marburger, who heroically protected students during the shooting, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, according to his family. The tragic incident took place on January 4, the first day back to school after winter break.

During the shooting, an 11-year-old middle school student lost their life, and six others were injured. The shooter, a 17-year-old student at the school, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The state Department of Public Safety praised Marburger for his selfless actions, stating that he placed himself in harm’s way to protect his students.

Marburger’s wife, Elizabeth, shared the news of his passing on the family’s GoFundMe page, expressing gratitude for the 10 days they had together after the incident. The entire community of Perry, a town with approximately 8,000 residents, is deeply saddened by the loss. Perry High School is part of the Perry Community School District, which serves around 1,785 students.

The incident has once again brought attention to the issue of school shootings in the United States, highlighting the need for improved safety measures and support for students and educators. The Perry community is mourning the loss of their beloved principal and coming together to support one another during this difficult time.
