Russian Tanks Equipped with Anti-Drone Systems ‘Sania’ in Special Military Operations

The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced the deployment of anti-drone systems called “Sania” on Russian tanks operating in the special military operations zone, according to a report by RIA Novosti.

The ministry revealed that the tanks are now equipped with a anti-drone “visor” fitted with the “Sania” drone suppression system, developed by the company 3mx.

A video released by the ministry showcased a T-80BVM tank firing fragmentation-explosive shells at positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) from a concealed location. This particular armored vehicle was equipped with an anti-drone “visor” fitted with the “Sania” drone suppression system, developed by 3mx.

“Sania” is an automatic dome-shaped detection and suppression complex designed specifically for FPV drones. According to the system’s developer, its detector scans the area for individual FPV drones or a swarm of such unmanned aerial vehicles within a range of up to 1.5 km, and can suppress them within a range of up to 1 km. “Sania” is capable of suppressing UAVs even while the tank is in motion.

Previously, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the “Zapad” troops group had utilized the most advanced electronic warfare system on the Kupyansk direction, providing comprehensive protection against any type of drones.

Earlier, a Russian captain identified the most useful types of weaponry in the special military operations zone.
