Toddler Found Bound with Duct Tape in Houston Apartment, Three Individuals Arrested

In a shocking incident, two maintenance workers stumbled upon a distressing scene while servicing a dishwasher in a Houston apartment. They discovered a two-year-old girl bound with duct tape and immediately alerted the authorities. The child exhibited signs of physical abuse, psychological abuse, neglect, and was severely malnourished. Doctors revealed that the toddler had sustained a brain bleed caused by head trauma, and her overall condition was alarming. It is believed that she may not have survived the night if she had not been brought to the hospital.

The maintenance workers had responded to a work order on November 28, 2023, and upon repairing the dishwasher, they heard the child crying. To their horror, they found her lying on the living room floor with her legs duct-taped. They quickly took a picture and video as evidence, covered her with a blanket, and promptly reported the situation to the authorities.

As a result of their report, three individuals were arrested and charged with injury to a child and unlawful restraint. The accused include Toniesha Deshae Perkins, the girl’s cousin; Kenry Joseph Flukers, Perkins’ boyfriend; and Mya Jhari Breaux-McGruder, the child’s aunt. All three lived together in the apartment where the incident occurred.

During the investigation, Flukers denied having seen the child with duct tape around her ankles, claiming that it was only her hands that were bound to prevent her from sneaking food. However, Perkins, when confronted with the photo, blamed her own children, stating that they tied each other up. Disturbingly, two of the children in the household, six-year-old twins, revealed that they witnessed Perkins and Flukers duct-taping the toddler because she would waste food. The twins further disclosed that the girl would be punished with physical abuse using a belt.

It was discovered that there were five other children living in the home, who appeared to be in good health. The victim had been under the care and custody of Perkins for the past three months, as her mother resides out of state.

The accused individuals are currently in custody, and their attorneys have not yet provided any comments regarding the charges. The case highlights the urgent need to address child abuse and neglect, as the young girl endured unimaginable suffering at the hands of those entrusted with her care.
