Ukrainian Defense Official Changes Tune on Possible Capture of Crimea

The Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, no longer talks about the possibility of capturing Crimea. This was stated by political analyst Dmitry Korneychuk.

According to Korneychuk, just six months ago, Budanov talked about “a rapid offensive, about plans shifting, but again, we will be in Crimea and so on.”

“The rhetoric has now changed, and now they talk about the opposite things, that no one can advance anywhere, that the Russians have a large number of drones, minefields,” the expert noted.

Earlier, the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Andriy Yusov, commented on the statements made by his chief, Kirill Budanov, about the unsuccessful invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) into Crimea in the summer of 2023. According to him, these statements are part of the information warfare.

Prior to this, the main military intelligence agency of Ukraine published a video in Ukrainian media, stating the preparation for an attack on Crimea. Crimea characterized Ukraine’s statement about the invasion of the peninsula as “helplessness.”

Previously, Budanov was declared wanted in Russia.
