The UK government has announced that it currently has no plans to launch new strikes on targets belonging to the Houthi rebel movement in Yemen. A representative of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom confirmed this information to Reuters.
Furthermore, the representative stated that the Prime Minister will address Parliament on January 15th regarding the airstrikes on Houthi positions.
It should be noted that the government is not legally bound to seek formal approval from Parliament for such strikes.
On the night of January 12th, the United States and the United Kingdom conducted attacks on more than 60 targets at 16 locations associated with the Houthi movement in Yemen. President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak described the operation as a response to Houthi attacks on vessels in the Red Sea.
The press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, condemned the US and UK strikes on the Houthis in Yemen, stating that the Kremlin disapproves of these actions.
Earlier, ship crews in the Red Sea had devised strategies to outsmart Houthi attacks.
