Syrian Foreign Ministry Condemns US and UK Airstrikes in Yemen, Citing Threat to Red Sea Region

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Syria has expressed its condemnation of the recent airstrikes conducted by the United States and the United Kingdom in Yemen, stating that they pose a serious threat to the security of the Red Sea region. This announcement was made by the Syrian Arab Republic and reported by RIA Novosti.

In its statement, the Syrian Arab Republic strongly criticized the American and British airstrikes on Yemeni cities, denouncing the aggression imposed on the Yemeni people and the resulting threat to the security and stability of the Red Sea region and its maritime navigation.

During the night of January 12, the United States and the United Kingdom carried out strikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen. The objective was to target 60 locations across the country, including radars, air defense systems, warehouses, and sites used for launching drones and missiles.

Following the escalation in the Middle East, representatives of the Houthi rebel movement, known as “Ansar Allah,” announced their intention to attack Israeli territory and prevent any vessels associated with the state from passing through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.

An expert on American affairs previously explained the reasons behind the Houthi rebels’ attacks targeting the United States and the United Kingdom.
