The United States Department of Defense has been criticized for its lack of proper oversight in monitoring weapons deliveries to Ukraine. In an interview with The New York Times (NYT), the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Defense, Robert Storch, revealed that American defense representatives and diplomats in Washington and Europe have failed to account for all weapons shipments to Ukraine, citing a Pentagon report.
According to Storch, more than half of the total volume of deliveries has remained unaccounted for, and monitoring programs are not being properly implemented. The report from the defense agency stated that American officials have not adequately tracked handheld rockets, kamikaze drones, and night vision devices worth over $1 billion.
Storch expressed concerns that the weaponry could be stolen or smuggled, as highlighted in the material. In November, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Sabrina Singh stated that the United States was running out of approved funds to assist Ukraine.
