Pentagon Inspector General to Investigate Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s Hospitalization

The Pentagon’s Inspector General, Robert Storch, has announced plans to investigate the circumstances surrounding the hospitalization of United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. This comes as a response to concerns raised about the events leading up to his medical treatment. The investigation aims to examine the roles, processes, procedures, responsibilities, and actions related to Austin’s hospitalization.

It was in December 2023 when Austin, the head of the Pentagon, was diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer. He underwent surgery, which unfortunately led to complications. In early January, he was urgently admitted to the hospital with a urinary tract infection. Surprisingly, President Joe Biden and other American officials were only informed about Austin’s diagnosis several days after his hospitalization.

Patrick Ryder, the Pentagon’s official spokesperson, has reassured the public that United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is in a stable condition while being treated at the hospital.

Austin, who is 70 years old, assumed the position as head of the Pentagon in January 2021.

In a separate revelation, it has emerged that Deputy Secretary of Defense Hicks was managing the department from a beach location without President Biden’s knowledge.
