An 18-year-old Missouri man has been accused of a shocking crime, allegedly shooting another man 15 times and hiding the body in a rolled-up air mattress secured with electrical cord. Jackson Pierce, along with a juvenile suspect, was apprehended without incident at a residence in St. Peters, Missouri, where the body of 23-year-old Dalton Coleman was discovered.
The St. Peters Police Department responded to the scene after receiving a call from a witness’s lawyer, who reported a potential homicide. Upon investigation, Coleman’s body was found inside a bedroom closet, wrapped in a rolled-up air mattress and with a white plastic garbage bag around his head, secured with an electrical cord that had been cut from a nearby lamp.
Authorities have determined that Pierce and Coleman were acquaintances, and the homicide allegedly occurred following an altercation inside the house. According to a probable cause statement, the witness received a phone call from Pierce, who claimed that Coleman had exhibited erratic behavior and was asking for unknown belongings. The witness attempted to defuse the situation by speaking with both individuals and asking Pierce to move valuable items, including a firearm, into his room.
Minutes later, Pierce called the witness again, admitting to shooting and killing Coleman. Pierce claimed that Coleman had forced his way into the bedroom where Pierce and the juvenile were seeking distance from him. According to the witness’s account, Pierce stated that Coleman attempted to punch him, leading to a struggle over the firearm. Pierce alleged that he shot Coleman 14 times, although an autopsy revealed approximately 15 gunshot wounds.
Shockingly, when the witness suggested that Pierce call the police, he refused. However, after being taken into custody, Pierce expressed regret, stating, “Dog, I shoulda f—— called the cops myself, I shoulda called the cops myself, bro … I am, I am dumb as f—.”
Pierce has been charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and tampering with physical evidence. He is set to be transferred to St. Charles County Jail, where he will be held on a $1 million cash-only bond. The juvenile suspect, whose charges remain undisclosed, has been transferred to St. Charles County Family Court and will remain in the court’s custody.
