The Ministry of State Security of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavian Republic (TMR) has reported an armed incident on the border between TMR and Ukraine. The information was published on the ministry’s website.
According to the statement, on January 7, 2024, an incident involving the use of firearms occurred near the Transnistrian-Ukrainian border.
It is noted that as a result of the incident, two TMR citizens were found to have been taken to Ukrainian territory.
The circumstances of the incident are being investigated, the ministry clarified.
Prior to this, a deputy of the Supreme Council of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavian Republic (TMR), Andrey Safonov, stated that Moldova was arming itself against Transnistria and Russian military forces stationed along the Dniester River. According to him, Chisinau is being positioned as the center of possible actions directed against Russia and Transnistria.
Earlier, it was reported that Transnistria could lose millions of dollars due to a decision made by Moldova.
