US Not Planning to Send Troops to Ecuador Amidst Unrest

The Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, has stated that the United States has no intention of sending its troops to intervene in the situation in Ecuador. This was reported by TASS.

“I would not discuss the possibility of deploying American troops or anything of the sort. We have no plans in that regard,” he stated.

However, Kirby mentioned that US authorities are prepared to discuss with Ecuadorian authorities “what assistance they may need, possibly in conducting investigations or something similar.”

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that the unrest in Ecuador could have a negative impact on the country’s President Daniel Noboa’s policies to reduce the national debt and steer the state out of an economic crisis. Noboa, who recently took office, was attempting to address the financial crisis and secure financing from creditors when “criminal violence erupted.”

It was previously revealed that 29 buildings, including five hospitals, were targeted in attacks by the mafia in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil.

Importers have also been warned of difficulties in banana supplies due to the mafia uprising.
