Trial Set for Woman Charged in Connection with Disappearance of Connecticut Mother Jennifer Dulos

A recently resurfaced video shows Connecticut State Police interrogating Michelle Troconis, who has been charged in connection with the 2019 disappearance and death of Jennifer Dulos, a New Canaan mother of five. Troconis, referred to as “one of the most hated women in America” by an officer during the interrogation, is set to face trial this week. The Connecticut Superior Court in Stamford has declared Jennifer Dulos dead, more than four years after she went missing, just ahead of the trial for a suspect in the case.

According to court documents, a probate judge declared Jennifer Dulos dead after examining evidence that supports the claim of non-survivable injuries. Efforts to locate her body have been ongoing, but it has not been found. Jennifer’s family and friends have not had any contact with her since May 24, 2019, leading to the conclusion that she is deceased.

Connecticut State Police allege that Jennifer’s estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, violently attacked her in their home and drove away with her body after she returned from dropping off their children at school. Fotis and his girlfriend, Troconis, were arrested on charges of evidence tampering in June 2019. In January 2020, Fotis was charged with murder, felony murder, and kidnapping. Troconis and Fotis’ attorney, Kent Mawhinney, were charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Fotis died by suicide shortly after being charged.

Troconis, who pleaded not guilty, has maintained her innocence, and her family released a statement expressing confidence in her innocence. In a recently resurfaced video, Troconis is seen being interrogated by Connecticut State Police, with an officer calling her “one of the most hated women in America.” Throughout the video, Troconis claims to have limited knowledge of Dulos’ death, mainly relying on news reports for information. She also makes baseless claims about Dulos hiding and having a personality disorder.

Despite the black Chevy Suburban belonging to Jennifer Dulos being found abandoned, her remains have not been located. Surveillance footage showed Fotis throwing out items that appeared to be stained with blood, and later testing confirmed it was Jennifer’s blood. Investigators alleged that Troconis was with Fotis in his truck at the time.

Troconis’ defense attorney attempted to prevent the use of the interrogation interviews and her DNA in her trial, citing a violation of her constitutional rights. However, the judge allowed both pieces of evidence to be presented.

The trial for Troconis will shed light on the events surrounding Jennifer Dulos’ disappearance and death, and the search for justice continues for her family.
