Cleveland Missing, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting families of missing persons, has come up with an innovative approach to gather tips and potentially solve cold cases. They have created decks of playing cards featuring 52 missing persons cases. The idea is to distribute these cards and generate public awareness in the hope of obtaining valuable information.
In a recent development, Xavier Breland, the sole person of interest in a two-year-old missing person case, was apprehended in Georgia. He had failed to appear in court in Indiana and had been on the run. Georgia State Police confirmed his arrest and revealed that he was taken into custody on a re-arrest warrant. Law enforcement is now preparing for his extradition back to Indiana.
Xavier Breland’s estranged wife, Ciera Breland, went missing in February 2022. She was last seen outside her mother-in-law’s home in Johns Creek, Georgia. The gun charge and subsequent arrest in Georgia are unrelated to her disappearance. Xavier reported his wife missing two days after the incident, but there is no evidence to suggest she returned to Indiana with him. The FBI has stated that Xavier has not been charged in connection with her disappearance.
Ciera’s mother, Kelly Locklair, revealed in an interview that her daughter was afraid of Xavier, who had previously faced stalking and weapons charges. Locklair stated that Ciera had no intention of returning to Indiana and was desperate to get away from him. Xavier is the only person of interest publicly named in Ciera’s case.
Locklair believes that Ciera’s body could be located in Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, or Indiana. However, without more substantial evidence or the discovery of Ciera’s body, potential criminal charges against Xavier in connection with her disappearance are unlikely to progress.
Xavier’s jury trial for the Hamilton County weapons charge, scheduled for January 8, has been postponed multiple times due to his failure to appear. His lawyer, Bryan Howard, maintains his client’s innocence and argues that focusing solely on Xavier will impede the progress of the case.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact the Johns Creek Police Department, the Carmel Police Department, Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation tip line, or the FBI.
