Construction Accident at New York City Site Leaves Multiple Injured

A construction accident involving a boom truck occurred at a New York City construction site on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in injuries to at least five people, according to the Fire Department (FDNY). The incident took place at 3880 9th Ave. and was initially reported as a “crane collapse.” However, upon investigation, FDNY rescue crews determined that it was actually a smaller boom truck involved in the accident.

Three individuals with non-life-threatening injuries were transported to nearby hospitals, while four others were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The cause of the accident is currently unknown.

Earlier in the day, the FDNY and the city’s Department of Buildings had issued a weather advisory due to a major storm expected to bring heavy rainfall and damaging winds. It is unclear whether the weather conditions played a role in the accident.

The construction site was temporarily closed following the incident, and investigations are underway to determine the cause and prevent similar accidents in the future.

This incident serves as a reminder of the risks faced by construction workers and the importance of stringent safety measures at construction sites. The FDNY and other relevant authorities will continue to monitor the situation and ensure the safety of workers and the public.
