Russian Defense Ministry Claims Intercepting Ukrainian UAV and Rocket Shell over Belgorod Region

In a recent statement, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that their air defense systems successfully intercepted a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and a rocket shell from the BM-27 Uragan multiple rocket launcher system over the Belgorod region.

According to the ministry, the attempted attack was thwarted at approximately 19:30 MSK. The Ukrainian side had launched the strikes using the Uragan system and a UAV of aircraft type.

The Defense Ministry highlighted that their air defense assets destroyed the rocket shell and UAV above the Belgorod region.

Prior to this incident, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that their air defense systems intercepted 10 rocket shells from the Vampire multiple rocket launcher system within a day.

On the evening of January 8, the Russian Defense Ministry also announced the interception of 10 Vampire rockets over the Belgorod region.

On January 3, the Russian Ministry of Defense revealed that their air defense systems had intercepted eight ballistic missiles of the Tochka-U type, two S-200 anti-aircraft missiles, and 34 rocket shells from HIMARS, Olkha, and Vampire systems, all belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Zelensky explained the obstacles preventing Ukraine from shifting the conflict to Russian territory.
