Former Williamson County Judge and Wife Found Dead in Texas Home

Texas deputies are currently investigating the tragic deaths of a former Williamson County judge and his wife after they were found dead in their home. The authorities received a distressing 911 call reporting a shooting at the residence on January 8, around 11:45 p.m. The incident took place in the 300 block of County Road 317, near the Georgetown city limits, approximately 40 miles north of Austin.

The deceased couple has been identified as Burt Carnes, a retired judge, and his wife. As law enforcement officials arrived at the scene, they discovered the lifeless bodies of the couple inside their home. The investigation is ongoing, and a suspect has been taken into custody. Authorities have assured the public that there is no immediate danger, but have requested people to avoid the area.

Burt Carnes hailed from a family with a strong background in Texas law enforcement, including members such as a Texas Ranger, a Border Patrol Agent, and a Wilson County sheriff, according to the Austin American-Statesman. After serving on the bench for an impressive 24 years, Carnes retired from the 368th District Court in 2013. He was reelected six times, making his tenure one of the longest in the county’s history.

In a 2013 interview with the Austin American-Statesman, Carnes expressed his preference for being a judge rather than a politician. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the law and making decisions based on what is right within the confines of the legal system.

As this is a developing story, further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
