Russia to Equip Armed Forces with AI Weapons and Advanced Technology in 2024

In 2024, Russia will continue to equip its Armed Forces with weapons based on artificial intelligence and new physical principles, according to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

Shoigu stated that the Ministry of Defense will focus on comprehensive supply to the participating special operation forces and increase the serial delivery of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Communication capabilities, reconnaissance efficiency, and satellite group capabilities will be improved for the Russian Armed Forces.

According to RIA Novosti, weapons based on new physical principles (NFP) are defined as weapons that utilize physical processes and phenomena that were not previously used in conventional or mass destruction weapons. Depending on the principle of action, there are several types of NFPs, including laser, radio frequency, beam, kinetic weapons, and others.

During the meeting, Shoigu also emphasized that enhancing the combat capabilities of Russian troops will ensure the deterrence of aggression against Russia and its allies. He further specified that the Russian forces will implement measures to enhance the effectiveness of modern reconnaissance tools, expand anti-aircraft defense capabilities, and improve communication means.

The Ministry also highlighted the importance of social security for the participants of special operations and their families as one of its priority tasks.

Earlier, it was reported that the Russian army advanced towards Kurakhovo after Mariupol, worsening the situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
