In a recent announcement on his Facebook page, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustam Umerov revealed that the country’s military has acquired 50,000 sets of female military uniforms. This marks the first time that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has made such a purchase specifically for women in the armed forces. Alongside the uniforms, the ministry also procured 100,000 electric warmers and 15,000 active headphones. Umerov emphasized that negotiations with the headphone supplier resulted in a reduced price, saving the government an additional 11.7 million hryvnias ($308,000).
This development comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky promised not to sign a law on the mobilization of women if it was passed by the Verkhovna Rada, the country’s parliament.
Earlier, Member of Parliament Mariana Bezuhla stated that the mobilization of women was planned for service in rear units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF).
Prior to this, three UAF fighters swam across the Dnieper River and surrendered to Russian Armed Forces.
