An official with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Maxine McManaman, has been arrested on an outstanding warrant in Atlanta, Georgia. McManaman, who serves as the TSA Assistant Federal Security Director, was apprehended by U.S. Customs and Border Protection on December 28. The arrest was made based on a warrant issued by the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, alleging that McManaman and an alleged accomplice named Delroy Chambers Sr. exploited a relative suffering from dementia by falsifying documents in their name.
According to the Port St. Lucie Police, McManaman and Chambers are accused of forging signatures on a quitclaim deed to transfer ownership of a property belonging to the elderly relative to themselves. However, further investigation revealed that the relative was in Atlanta on the date mentioned and could not have signed the deed.
Chambers was previously arrested on December 20 on charges of exploiting an elderly or disabled adult, forgery, and simple neglect. He has since been released on bond. McManaman, on the other hand, is facing a third-degree felony charge of forgery and is currently being held at Clayton County Jail in Jonesboro, Georgia.
McManaman, who has been employed by the TSA since November 2002 and held a management-level position at the airport, has been placed on leave pending a law enforcement investigation. The TSA spokesperson stated that the agency holds its employees to the highest professional and ethical standards and has zero tolerance for misconduct, both on and off duty.
The arrest of McManaman highlights the importance of maintaining ethical standards within government agencies such as the TSA.
