US Political Changes and Trump’s Influence Impact Ukraine’s Aid and Potential Defeat in Confrontation with Russia

According to Politico, former US Ambassador to NATO, Ivo Daalder, has highlighted the potential impact of political changes in the US and the actions of presidential candidate Donald Trump on the level of aid that Ukraine will receive. Daalder suggests that there is a possibility that the United States may cease providing assistance to Ukraine, which could lead to a potential defeat for Ukrainian forces in their ongoing confrontation with Russia in the first half of 2024.

This comes in the wake of an extensive interview given by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to The Economist, where he outlined the key strategies for the conflict with Russia in 2024. Zelensky emphasized that the focal points of this confrontation will be centered around the objectives in the Black Sea and Crimea.

However, an article in The Wall Street Journal by American professor of strategic studies, Phillips P. O’Brien, suggests that the current US administration, led by President Joe Biden, may not be inclined to support Ukraine in achieving victory in its armed conflict with Russia.

Zelensky has previously mentioned the challenges faced by Ukraine in extending the military operations into Russian territory.

Overall, the political dynamics in the US and the influence of key figures like Trump have the potential to significantly impact Ukraine’s aid and their chances of success in the confrontation with Russia. These developments raise concerns about the future of the conflict and the role of the US in supporting Ukraine’s efforts.
