Indiana Man Rescued After Being Trapped in Crashed Truck for Six Days: A Christmas Miracle

An Indiana man, Matthew Reum, who was trapped inside his crashed truck for nearly a week, broke his silence on social media to express his gratitude. Reum was driving on Interstate 94 when his truck veered off the road, went airborne, and rolled several times before landing in a creek underneath a bridge. He was pinned inside the truck and unable to call for help. After six days, two fishermen searching for fishing spots discovered the truck and initially thought there was a dead body inside. However, they were shocked when Reum turned his head and spoke.

On New Year’s Eve, Reum took to Facebook to thank the “hundreds and thousands of people” who had reached out to him or offered donations. He expressed his immense gratitude for their support and described the incident as a Christmas miracle. Reum acknowledged that the journey to recovery would be challenging but expressed confidence in his ability to overcome obstacles with the support he has received.

The rescue operation was not easy due to the difficult terrain and the way Reum was trapped inside the truck. It took several hours for the rescue crews to reach him and cut him out of the vehicle. Indiana State Police Sgt. Glen Fifield described Reum’s survival as a miracle.

Reum’s story serves as a reminder of the power of human kindness and the miracles that can happen even in the face of adversity. Despite the long road to recovery ahead, Reum remains optimistic and grateful for the support he has received.
