California authorities have arrested a woman on murder charges after she allegedly ran over a pedestrian with her vehicle. The incident occurred on December 8 in San Pablo, California, when 39-year-old Dene Blakely of Richmond intentionally drove into a 60-year-old woman who had accused her of stealing a package from her home. The victim was transported to a hospital with major injuries and underwent surgery but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries on December 23.
Blakely was initially charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. However, following the victim’s death, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office upgraded the charges to murder. Blakely is currently being held at the West County Detention Facility in Richmond on a $1 million bail.
