Russian Forces Destroy Ukrainian Artillery Position in Donetsk

In a recent development in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the Russian forces have successfully destroyed a 120-mm mortar position belonging to the Ukrainian troops in the Petropavlovka area of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). This information was revealed by the spokesperson of the “Zapad” military group, Sergey Zybinsky, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Zybinsky stated, “During the counter-battery operations, the crew of the self-propelled artillery unit 2S19 ‘Msta-S,’ under the command of Senior Sergeant Vasily Nurdynov, destroyed the enemy’s 120-mm mortar position in the Petropavlovka area.”

On December 29, the Russian Ministry of Defense released footage showing the storming of Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) positions by the troops of the “Zapad” military group in the Kupyansk direction.

Prior to this incident, it was reported that the motorized rifle troops of the “Zapad” military group successfully repelled a counter-attack by the UAF assault group in the Kupyansk direction.

According to available information, the motorized rifle unit of the “Zapad” military group effectively repelled the Ukrainian troops’ counter-attack in the Kupyansk direction. The UAF assault group was dispersed and destroyed using the AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher and RPG-7 handheld anti-tank grenade launcher, with anti-personnel mines being used as ammunition.

Earlier reports had indicated that Russian paratroopers and special forces were being trained to use NATO weapons.
