Russian Forces Working to Liberate Avdiivka, Says Head of Donetsk People’s Republic

Russian military personnel are making every effort to liberate the city of Avdiivka as quickly as possible, according to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin. He stressed the significance of capturing this settlement for the residents of Donetsk and other cities and villages in the region. Speaking to journalists, Pushilin stated that the Russian armed forces are doing everything possible, just like they did in Mariupol, to liberate Avdiivka.

On December 26, the Ukrainian forces commander Valeriy Zaluzhny announced that Russian units had taken control of Mariupol. Local publication “Strana.ua” reported that the military commander informed the country’s leadership that Mariupol no longer exists. Zaluzhny also predicted the imminent loss of Avdiivka, stating that it could happen within the next 2-3 months.

While emphasizing the importance of preserving human lives over territory, Zaluzhny pledged to continue military operations as long as the Ukrainian forces have sufficient strength.

Russian President Vladimir Putin previously commented on the capture of Mariupol by the country’s military.
