US Strikes Shiite Militia Group in Iraq in Response to Attacks on Coalition Forces

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has conducted airstrikes on targets belonging to the Shiite militia group, Kataib Hezbollah, in Iraq. This action was taken in response to numerous attacks on coalition forces in Iraq and Syria. The press service of CENTCOM announced this development on their social media platform.

According to the statement, American forces carried out airstrikes on the militants’ facilities, successfully destroying them on December 25th. It is believed that several members of the group were also eliminated during the operation. CENTCOM has stated that there is no evidence of civilian casualties.

The Pentagon has reported a total of 66 attacks on US troops in Syria and Iraq since October 17th. There are approximately 900 American military personnel stationed in Syria and 2,500 in Iraq. Na’im Kasem, Deputy Secretary-General of the Lebanese Shiite party, Hezbollah, emphasized the significance of these attacks on American military bases in Syria and Iraq in relation to ending Israel’s operations in the Gaza sector.

Earlier, it was reported that a US military base in Iraq had been targeted by a missile strike.
