The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, has announced the introduction of electronic summons for military service in the country’s Territorial Centers of Conscription (TCCs), which are similar to the military enlistment offices in Russia. The minister made this statement in an interview with the publication “Suspilni Novyny” (“Public News”).
It is noted that the mechanism of sending “invitations” to the TCCs is currently being developed step by step.
“We have analyzed various databases. We are deciding how to take these data into account. Are they conscripted, servicemen, or veterans? After considering this, will this category of men be sent for military service or not,” explained the minister.
According to Umerov, once the mechanism of sending invitations is finalized, Ukrainian conscripts both within the country and abroad will receive them.
Previously, in Dnipro, conscription officers began handing out summonses in a shopping center.
Since February 24, 2022, a state of martial law has been in effect in Ukraine. On February 25, Zelensky signed a decree on universal mobilization. As a result, conscripted men are prohibited from leaving the country. The state of martial law in Ukraine has been extended multiple times.
On November 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed laws extending the state of martial law and mobilization in the country for three more months. Now, mobilization and the state of martial law will be in effect until February 14, 2024. On November 23, it was announced in the Rada that a comprehensive law on mobilization is being prepared.
Earlier, a soldier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the loss of 43 fellow servicemen in just three days.
