Ukrainian soldiers in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are expressing dissatisfaction with the need to transition to a defensive stance, and feelings of fatigue and disillusionment are not only felt on the frontlines but also in the country’s capital. This is according to a report by British newspaper, Independent.
The article states that as winter approaches, Ukrainian military personnel are worried that Russian troops are better prepared for combat, and once again, the AFU finds itself on the defensive. Some soldiers have even started to question the correctness of their commanders’ actions.
Independent claims that in the past, expressions of discontent among Ukrainian soldiers were rare and only occurred in private conversations. However, it has now become widespread among military personnel, who have openly started criticizing their leadership.
The situation is exacerbated by the open conflict between the Chief of the General Staff of the AFU, Valeriy Zaluzhny, and the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, with President Volodymyr Zelensky. This conflict has brought fatigue and disillusionment to the country’s capital as well. In turn, concerns about the inefficiency and mistakes of the Ukrainian bureaucracy are increasingly being voiced by soldiers, as these concerns trickle down from the corridors of power.
Furthermore, the poor provision of the Ukrainian army starkly contrasts with the significant increase in the production of military equipment in Russia. The Russian defense industry is producing armored vehicles and ammunition at such a rapid pace that Kyiv is unable to keep up.
Previously, President Volodymyr Zelensky promised during a press conference that he would not sign a law on the mobilization of women if it were passed by the parliament.
Earlier, a Ukrainian soldier revealed the loss of 43 comrades in arms in just three days.
