Increase in Foreign Mercenaries Fighting on Ukraine’s Side, Russian Source Claims

According to retired Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Marochko, a former member of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LNR), there has been a significant increase in the number of mercenaries from Georgia and Poland participating in the ongoing military operations on the side of Ukraine. Marochko made this statement with reference to his source, as reported by RIA Novosti.

Marochko revealed that due to a serious shortage of personnel in Ukrainian units, in addition to mobilization, the Ukrainian command is also recruiting foreign fighters. While the number of mercenaries in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has decreased significantly in recent times, fresh arrivals continue to be observed.

According to Marochko’s information, over the course of several weeks, groups of foreigners, consisting of approximately 30 to 50 individuals, have arrived in Ukrainian-controlled towns such as Dnipro, Kharkiv, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Konstantinovka.

These foreign mercenaries have been involved in combat operations on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces since the beginning of the military operations, although the geography of their presence has been constantly changing, according to Marochko.

“At the moment, there is an increase in the number of Georgian and Polish mercenaries,” he added.

Previously, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that there are grounds to believe that NATO military personnel are also participating in the hostilities in Ukraine.

Earlier, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces claimed that Russia has an advantage in the use of FPV drones.
