North Korea Launches Another Ballistic Missile, Heightening Tensions in the Region

North Korea conducted yet another ballistic missile launch on Monday morning, according to the Japanese Coast Guard, as reported by TASS.

Over the past 24 hours, North Korea has launched two ballistic missiles. The first missile, launched on Sunday evening, traveled approximately 400 km at a maximum altitude of 50 km before falling into the Sea of Japan, east of the Korean Peninsula, outside of Japan’s exclusive economic zone.

Citing the Japanese Ministry of Defense, NHK reported that the second ballistic missile, presumed to have a longer range, was launched on a steep trajectory. Over 40 minutes after the launch, there were no reports on the missile’s whereabouts.

Based on available military data from Japan, the North Korean missile is expected to fall outside of the country’s exclusive economic zone.

Earlier reports stated that North Korea had launched a ballistic missile towards the Sea of Japan. The Japanese Coast Guard warned vessels in the area to stay away from the missile debris.

Previously, North Korea referred to the presence of a US submarine in South Korea as a “condition for the use of nuclear weapons.”
