Russian Lawmaker Proposes Recognizing Combat Experience for Private Military Contractors

In a recent development, Andrei Isayev, the Deputy Head of the “United Russia” faction in the State Duma, has suggested utilizing the experience of verifying work experience by a special commission for fighters of private military companies, as well as the people’s militias of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This proposal, as reported by TASS, aims to address the issue of unrecognized combat experience due to the absence of official military records.

Isayev emphasized that verifying the experience of mercenaries would require “certain efforts” since they are not included in the records of the Ministry of Defense. The same question arises for those who participated in combat actions as part of the people’s militias of Donetsk and Luhansk, as some of them fought under aliases, with no known personal data or passport records.

The deputy stated that work experience is necessary for pension benefits and sick leave entitlements. To address this, plans are underway to establish an interdepartmental commission with the authority to confirm the existence of experience based on witness testimonies and other sources, even in the absence of official documents.

It was previously reported in September that veterans of combat actions in the Zabaykalsky Krai were given priority in employment, making it the first region to implement such a measure in support of Russian servicemen.

Earlier, lawmakers were prohibited from traveling to the conflict zone without permission from Defense Minister Shoigu.
