Soft Mobilization Begins in Lviv as Ukrainian Government Encourages Contract Service

In an effort to bolster its military forces, the Lviv conscription office has initiated a “soft mobilization” campaign, with officials urging potential conscripts on the streets to sign up for service under contract. This development was reported by the Ukrainian publication “Strana.ua” in their Telegram channel.

According to the publication, “The streets of Lviv have witnessed the start of a ‘soft mobilization’ campaign, with conscription office personnel informing passersby about the benefits of serving under a contract.”

The statement from the Lviv Territorial Recruitment Center and representatives from the airborne assault troops highlights the various activities being undertaken to inform citizens about the advantages of voluntary military service.

Notably, Member of the Ukrainian Parliament, Marianna Bezuhla, previously proposed revoking the citizenship of those who left the country to evade conscription and did not return. She also mentioned the possibility of introducing universal military training for both men and women from the age of 18.

Earlier reports from Ukraine indicated that only a third of the military personnel were actively engaged in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
