Elderly Man Faces Murder Charges After Fatal Pancake Dispute with Wife

An elderly man in Washington, D.C., has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his wife during an argument over pancakes. Steven Schwartz, 85, was taken into custody on December 10th at his residence on Corcoran Street. Law enforcement officers responded to reports of a stabbing and found the victim, Sharron Schwartz, 81, with injuries. Both the husband and wife were transported to local hospitals, but unfortunately, Sharron Schwartz succumbed to her injuries.

According to a report by U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves, Steven Schwartz confessed to stabbing his wife in the back because he did not want to eat the pancakes she had made. Court documents revealed that Schwartz expressed regret over the tragic incident and even stated that he wished he had died instead. Despite pleading not guilty, Schwartz was charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed.

During the arraignment at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, Judge Sherry Trafford found probable cause linking Schwartz to the crime and ordered him to be held without bail until his preliminary hearing on January 2nd.
