President Erdogan Receives Positive Response from Biden on F-16 Fighter Jet Sales

In a recent telephone conversation, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan revealed that US President Joe Biden has expressed a positive stance on the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Ankara. This statement was made during a press briefing with journalists, as reported by TASS.

Erdogan highlighted that he had an extensive discussion with his American counterpart on December 14th. One of the main topics of their conversation was the issue of F-16 fighter jets. According to Erdogan, Biden stated that he is in favor of the sale of these aircraft and is prepared to propose the necessary measures to Congress.

Previously, it was reported that Turkey would support Sweden’s NATO membership if the United States approved the deal for the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Ankara.

On December 6th, President Erdogan stated that he is awaiting the delivery of F-16 fighter jets from the US to complete the process of ratifying Sweden’s NATO application.

Earlier, Turkey released a former employee of the US consulate who had been convicted of espionage.
