Leonardo and KNDS Form Alliance for Next-Generation Tanks in Europe

Italian company Leonardo and the Franco-German consortium KNDS have announced the creation of an industrial alliance to develop and produce next-generation tanks in Europe. This news comes from the American publication Defense News.

The new alliance will focus on promoting Italy’s participation in the long-awaited European Main Ground Combat System program, as well as coordinating work on the new Leopard tanks ordered by Italy. The stated goal of the alliance is to create a truly European defense group and to collaborate more closely in the field of ground electronics.

Under the agreement, Italy will oversee the production of the new German Leopard 2 A8 tanks, which the Italian government is purchasing to replenish its depleted armored vehicle stocks. The Republic intends to acquire 133 Leopards.

On December 5th, Ukraine began using Leopard tanks to hold the defensive line.

On December 7th, Russia identified effective weapons against Leopard tanks and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.

Previously, a tank duel between the Russian and Ukrainian armed forces at close range was captured on video.
