Cargo Ship Attacked in the Red Sea, Yemeni Rebels Threaten Further Strikes

In a recent incident, a cargo ship flying the flag of Hong Kong was attacked in the Red Sea. The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported this attack on their official page.

According to the report, the Maersk Gibraltar, a vessel owned by the company Maersk, was hit by a ballistic missile. Following the attack, Yemeni Houthi rebels have threatened to continue their rocket strikes on the ship.

However, Maersk had previously denied reports of a drone strike on their container ship.

In parallel, Bulgarian television channel BNT has reported that a Bulgarian Fleet (BMF) cargo ship with 18 crew members onboard has been seized in the Arabian Sea.

It is reported that communication with the ship’s crew is currently unavailable. The crew consists of 18 individuals, eight of whom are Bulgarian citizens, while the remaining ten are from Myanmar and Angola. The ship was sailing under the flag of Malta. The incident occurred 380 nautical miles (703 km) east of the Yemeni island of Socotra.

Earlier, the Houthi rebels had claimed responsibility for the drone strike on the Danish Maersk ship.
