Houthi rebels from the Ansar Allah movement have announced that they targeted a container ship, the Maersk Gibraltar, bound for Israel. The attack was reportedly carried out successfully using a drone. This comes after unidentified individuals boarded the distressed vessel off the coast of Somalia.
The UK Maritime Trade Operations received a distress signal from the ship, which was intercepted by unknown individuals. “Authorities are currently investigating,” stated the organization.
The ship is located approximately 1,296 kilometers east of the city of Bosaso in Somalia.
On December 11th, the Houthi rebels targeted another commercial vessel from Yemen. A surface-to-surface missile was launched at the ship passing through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. The crew received assistance from the US Navy destroyer, USS Mason.
Earlier, Pope Francis stated that the world is engulfed in war due to the defense industry.
